    Согласно распространенной легенде, завоеватель Тамерлан, возвращавшийся после завоевания Индии, принимал естественные лечебные ванны в одном из лесных озер, и был поражен чудодейственными результатами. Исторически подтверждено: между городами Костанай и Челябинск находится башня «Кесене», охраняемая Челябинским историческим музеем. Башня была воздвигнута рабами за одну ночь в память погибшей младшей дочери завоевателя. В период 1960-1975 г.г. ученые проводили исследование озера, наполненного минеральной водой, в районе села Щербакова Костанайской области Алтынсаринского района Республики Казахстан, где они выявили чудодейственные свойства лечебной воды.
